There are four main woodworm species;

Beetale and woodworm
  1. Common furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum) - the most common and accounts for 75% of infestation
  2. Wood boring weevil (Pentarthrum huttoni)- likes wet and damp areas
  3. Death watch beetle(Xestobium rufovillosum) - likes hardwoods and most common in older timber framed properties
  4. House longhorn beetle (Cerambycidae)- the largest but generally found in the south of the country.
